Education and Scholarships

Education Fairs

Mercy Foundation hosts Back to School Education Fairs in underserved communities. The foundation offers backpacks filled with school supplies to students. This helps the community start the school year off on the right foot. Many of these children attend school with minimal resources and Mercy Foundation can be of great assistance to them and their families get the tools needed to succeed.

Partnering with local colleges and bringing information to potential students is one way we bridge the gap. Many of them do not realize that college is an attainable goal. Giving them the resources they need to break the cycle of poverty is beneficial to our community as a whole.

First Generation College Student Scholarship

With the help of Osceola School Board Member, Terry Castillo, and the Education Foundation, Mercy Foundation is able to offer scholarships to individuals within the community who are first generation college students.

Mercy Foundation has partnered with the Education Foundation to award scholarships to graduating students who have volunteered with Mercy for 20 or more hours within a 6 month window.

Education Conference

Mercy Foundation offers educational support and scholarships to students in the communities we serve. The Education Conference was held via zoom in light of the pandemic in July 2020.

WELD held an Implicit Bias Education Seminar, virtually, with Professor Phyllis Diane Kotey, to discuss the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner.
